A feeling of mild, tranquil cold, of a gentle breeze flowing across the body, the scent of fragrant woodland flowers mingling with that of warm, misty rain. The grey-blue clouds of a coming storm gather around her body like fog. Celia's aura is one that reflects her element - the forest. Those familiar with her will find an odd, almost disconcertingly relaxing sense of calm near her, an appreciation for all that nature's beauty has to offer. Those unfamiliar with her will feel uneasy, certainly not frightened, but unwilling to let their guard down for fear of what may or may not happen. Celia's aura is primarily used for her own defense and the amplification of her physical attributes, particularly her legs and eyes for when she's out in the field.

<div id="criteriah">SEMBLANCE.</div>
Just as her Aura compliments the side of herself that she openly present to others, her Semblance reflects a side of her better left unsaid. She's hesitant to use it, mainly because she know she doesn't often need to, but also because it can do very terrible things to her if she isn't careful. PREDATOR IMPULSE is a semblance unique to Celia's family. Similar in function to adrenaline, her semblance will give her a short, but potent burst of speed, strength, and focus, also increasing her sight distance and improving the speed at which she can process mathematical equations. Effectively, it can increase the range of her bow's attacks and her own reflexes when dodging or defending. However, also similar to adrenaline, Celia must use this semblance sparingly, and only in short bursts. During normal use, her semblance will tune out anything she isn't immediately focused on, including allies, other enemies, and surroundings, forcing her brain to single in on one specific target. She can change what she's focused on in between bursts, but in the middle of using it, she's vulnerable to attacks from multiple sides. If she uses it too many times, or for too long in a single burst, she can start to slip out of it involuntarily. If her use continues, the mental and physical strain can cause her to collapse outright.

<div id="criteriah">WEAPON.</div>

A bow is somewhat of an interesting weapon for a hunter to use. On one hand, it's simply far inferior to even the simplest firearm - more difficult to aim, shorter effective range, relatively slow to reload, and generally less power. It's hard to argue that a bow could rival a firearm in any useful way - considering you're speaking of average bows. Celia's special bow, FRAGILE NOCTURE, is anything but average. A mechanically-enhanced, variable draw weight compound bow powered by a set of dust crystals set into the limbs, near the arrow rest, and woven into the string. The crystals in the limbs are violet dust, and serve to decrease the strain of the bow's massive average draw weight, though they can still easily break if the weight is set too high. The crystal in the arrow rest is black dust, which keeps her arrows balanced and straight no matter how she's aiming. The dust woven into the string is also violet, To amplify the force transferred into the arrow and send it even further. A fixed-hold quiver of twenty arrows is connected to her bow on the left side, twenty arrows being all she normally needs considering the arrows usually have the same amount of power as subsonic firearm ammunition.
The arrows that the bow uses can be slightly modified with dust crystals, But Celia tends to rely solely on skill with her shots, believing that "gimmicky" ammunition could possibly mitigate the damage the arrow could have don on it's own. That being said, she's been trying to develop an easier way for herself to move more quickly from each vantage point to the next.
The bow can collapse into a secondary form when Celia takes hold of the handle with both hands and twists gently, like uncoupling a heavy set of wires. In this form, the limbs cling to the undersides of her arms and become a pair of fixed, bladed tonfas. The violet dust crystals in the limbs can amplify her strikes in this mode as well, though more in terms of strike speed than raw power.
The tonfas can fold back over her arms and into themselves to form a pair of metal vambraces. While they don't hold any real use in combat, Celia finds them easier to carry around in this form.


BONUS: Celia also wears an old cloak given to her by her mentor, Kita, as a parting gift. It is also dust-woven, but only for the added durability as opposed to any sort of additional power it might grant. It protects her from wind, rain, cold, and heat - as far as weather goes, anyhow.

Celia herself is a slim girl and stands at average height, but she is certainly no pushover. Though she is thin, her muscle is dense and toned, and she has a very high amount of natural strength even without the use of her aura. Her skin is is light in color, though marred with scars across her hands and shins from various accidents and altercations. Her hair is naturally black, somewhat rough, and cut short to keep it out of her dark-blue eyes. Her faunus traits manifest in the form of a bushy, grey fox tail with a black stripe and mottled spots of varying monochrome shades, which fades into a dark orange on the underside closer to the base.
Her normal attire rarely changes, as she doesn’t truthfully own much of a wardrobe. A black t-shirt with a her signature symbol printed on it in the same shade of dark, stormy blue as her aura, beneath her ever-present dark blue cloak. All of the pants she owns are rough denim, classic fit, and filled with tears and holes in various places, though focused moreso on the knees and shins. Her boots are brown and also well, worn, though the durable leather and rubber they’re made of still leaves them solid and functional despite their laces constantly needing to be replaced. She keeps a pair of leather gloves in a pouch on her belt, which she uses for combat and utility. They’re made of the same leather as her boots, albeit so worn and faded that the fingers have worn through. She refuses to replace her damaged clothing, she likes how it feels..

<p><div id="criteriah">PERSONALITY.</div>

Celia is described by most of her long-time friends as a kind-hearted, down-to-earth sort of person with a thirst for nature and stories about the world. She is all of these, to be sure - but only on a deeper level. Unfortunately, to strangers and newer acquaintances, Celia is a network of social ineptitude and awkward silences that line a wall of distrust, guarding an inner keep comprised of complex emotions and deep, worldly thought. She has trouble making friends, and even more trouble letting go of longtime friends that have hurt her in some way. Her appreciation for music and nature may appear as though she is a carefree sort of person, but in truth, she simply enjoys the world in a different way than a lot of people - “carefree” she is most definitely not. Celia is a woman motivated by her own deeply-rooted goals and beliefs, and has no room in her life for those who would contradict them. She takes her work as a student and as a huntress-in-training very seriously, even if she has trouble retaining information in a traditional classroom setting. She is not a leader, nor does she enjoy being led, but the impossible standards she has set for herself as both a huntress and a person leave her needing the support of her friends to move forward with pride.
Interestingly enough, she is also a skilled violinist.

<p><div id="criteriah">HISTORY.</div>

South of the Vale, in the forests of the landmass the kingdom with it’s neighbor Vacuo, there is a town that rests in relative peace just outside the proverbial walls of the nation proper. This town has no real name, nor a stated purpose, it is simply there as an alternative to life in the city, providing a simple life of hard, honest work and relatively quiet living. Not a lot of people choose this life, believing it to be unsafe or too uncivilized for their liking, or just unwilling to part with the technology available to them within the city. Whatever the case for the people, the unnamed town on the edge of the kingdom has sat at a reasonably consistent population and size for quite a few years. It is defended by the Hunters, old and new, that the town tends to draw in.
It is in this town that Celia Abbott, a faunus born to a single mother who left her in the care of a close friend when her duty as a huntress demanded more of her, grew into the young woman she is now. Even from a young age, Celia was an odd mixture of contradiction, someone who loved nothing more than to help others, but would never accept assistance when she needed it, who would stand up for others whenever and wherever she could, but never allow others to put themselves at risk for her sake. She was stubborn and selfless, never a good combination, which is why she caught the eye of one of the resident Huntresses.
Kita Fujimoto, a fellow faunus and an experienced Huntress who returned town after a short absence around the time Celia was 8, took an interest in Celia after the last time she broke up a fight Celia was involved in. Originally planning to scold the girl again, Kita found herself lamenting the value of such an effort and instead gave her a choice. Keep going around picking fights (which wasn’t really what she was doing, but still), or become a hunter.
Of course, Kita didn’t mean “Hunter” quite in the way that the term applied to herself, she meant hunter in a more traditional sense. Celia was sent off to work under a marksman, one who used a bow and arrows for the tracking and killing of wild animals out in the forests around the town. Kita would accompany them on their outings - the marksman teaching Celia more and more about the basics of tracking and archery, and Kita teaching Celia all about….anything, really. Remnant, the town, the forest, the animals, Aura, technology, anything at all. Celia was a curious child, and felt far more comfortable asking Kita questions than anyone else, even people that would probably know more. When the marksman believed that the rest of Celia’s training would come down to practice and familiarity, Celia and Kita were sent of in another direction during the day, Celia given the instructions to track, kill, dress, and return to town with a particular number of small game, without any outside help. She fumbled a few times, as all hunters do, but generally she came to quite a high skill level for someone of such a young age.
When Celia was 13, the town was hit by a sudden and unexpected surge of Grimm. The townsfolk had been left uneasy as, just a week prior, a nasty sickness had swept through the town and infected many people. Though far from deadly, it still left a great many people in poor condition, a number of them were Hunters - Kita included among them. The town was uneasy, not entirely confident they could handle a sizable number of Grimm with ⅔ of their defenders relatively out of commission for the moment, and the creatures capitalized on that. The town was not able to handle an attack like this with just the few Hunters it could spare. Kita knew that. She was not in good shape for combat, but it was necessary. She joined the fight as well, doing all she could to fend off the Grimm, but she was just too weak and ill to do what needed to be done. She would fail. The Grimm would destroy the town. They just didn’t have that kind of power.
Celia jumped in with Kita. Despite the urging of others within the safety of a shelter, Celia took a bow and a quiver of arrows and jumped headfirst into the fight. She couldn’t just sit there and do nothing. Kita was not in good shape, and Celia was woefully inexperienced, but between the two of them, they were able to do the work of one healthy Huntress. They evened the odds, but still the Grimm came, no longer advancing, but still strong enough to avoid being pushed back. It became a game of stamina, of who would outlast who, and the town was losing.
Angry shouts erupted from within the city walls as people erupted from the shelters that had taken cover in, wielding guns, pitchforks, knives, torches, anything they could get their hands on use as a weapon, charging up towards the Grimm as well. The few Hunters, combined with the force of the many townsfolk, pushed the Grimm back and into the forest just as dawn came, and the town revelled in the close victory they had just earned themselves by sheer tenacity. No lives claimed, few injuries to report, but the Hunters were exhausted. Kita was. Celia was. They had fought tooth and nail with everything they had through the whole ordeal, and had passed out from sheer exhaustion by dawn. Celia slept for four days straight.
When she awoke, Kita sat beside her with a thoughtful look on her face. She congratulated Celia on a job well done, and thanked her for basically risking her life to help Kita do her job, but Celia just brushed it off. She didn’t consider it something that was impressive, or worthy of thanks - she considered it something that anyone would have done given the same opportunity. It was necessary, it was right. She wanted to protect the town in any way she could. They continued to talk, well into the night, and they came to a conclusion. Celia would train under Kita as a warrior, a defender, a true Hunter.
Under Kita, Celia developed her most essential skills in combat, both in general, and for her specific style. She discovered her Semblance. She built her weapon. She took down Grimm. She sparred with Kita and actually held up reasonably well after enough of it.
Four years later, Kita surprises Celia out of nowhere one day - A Vale citizenship and an accepted application to Beacon Academy. The first had taken some string-pulling on her end, but the application was all entirely off Celia’s merit alone (though not for lack of trying, Kita has written a letter of recommendation, but forgot to mail it with the application). Celia isn’t familiar with the cityscape, or any of the more specialized technology and luxuries available to the populace in Vale, but she’s more than familiar with schooling and combat. Beacon will give her a chance to do what she wants to do.
That’s what she hopes.

Well, hello there. I'm new to this site, but not to RWBY or RP, so it's...nice to meet you all I suppose? I don't really have a lot to say about myself, honestly. There isn't much to know.
