about us
Legends. Stories, scattered through time. Mankind has grown quite fond of recounting the many exploits of heroes and villains, forgetting so easily that we are remnants - byproducts - of a forgotten past.

Join the ranks of Remnant’s prestigious Academies as you fight to protect the Four Kingdoms from the clutches of the evil Creatures of Grimm. Alternatively, you may work towards bringing the world to its knees by fighting against the last sparks of humanity. Red Like Roses is based on the hit web-series RWBY by Monty Oum and Rooster Teeth Productions.

AURA & SEMBLANCE.
Though an artificial lifeform, Indigo generates aura because he is technically a living being. Indigo's aura is a blackish-violet in color, as it seems to pulse around his body. His aura feels cold, like there is no emotion to influence his thoughts or actions. Almost like a computer calculating. However, it has a depressed sensation to it. Perhaps something that changed him to be emotionless?

Indigo's Semblance is often called Download. Download increases one of his physical attributes while in combat based upon the weakest physical attribute of his opponent. For example, if Indigo's aura detects that his opponent if very physically strong, or that they pack a punch, but they are very slow, his Semblance will make him much quicker. However, Indigo can only use this effect on one opponent at a time, not multiple enemies at once. Furthermore, though the attribute most effective towards the adversary will increase drastically, the opposite attribute will decrease drastically.

WEAPON.
Though Indigo is capable of using many different weapons, from swords to assault rifles, he prefers to fight hand to hand. However, he does posses a weapon. Named Geneflash, the weapon is a highly modified and upgraded Tian Po Sword. The Geneflash, like all Tian Po Swords, has a sliding hilt that shifts as the weapon is swung, causing a slashing attack to shift to a stab, and vice-versa. However, the blades can also be locked in position, creating a broadsword, or a double-bladed sword. When sheathed, the end of the Geneflash can be used as a Shotgun, which is capable of firing normal shotgun shells, or shells that contain dust. when fighting with his weapon, Indigo often uses the sliding function right off the bat, using it to slip up opponents. If this strategy doesn't work, he will switch to broadsword mode, and continue to fight. He hardly ever uses the shotgun or double-bladed mode. When fighting hand-to-hand, he strikes quickly, not focusing on raw damage output. He will often make use of his tail. His tail is normally hidden within his body, right above his equivalent of a tail bone. His tail can extend to almost twice his body length, and is tip with a greyish-brown spike. He will often be attacking with his tail as he fights, weaponless or not. He stab or slash with the tip, or grab and throw by wrapping it around an enemy.

BONUS: The magenta cloak that he wears like a cape of sorts is completely fireproof.

PERSONAL PROFILE

APPEARANCE.
Indigo stands at exactly 5'0, and weighing 150 lbs. Appearing neither human or faunus, Indigo appears to be some sort odd demon or alien. Like most of his body, which is colored violet with black dots, he has what he refers to as a "crown" on his head, with crests with a black, hard, jewel-like orb resting between them. His crown extends to be right of his eyes, and this specific area of his crown moves, as if they were eyebrows of sorts. His face is a pale grey, with dark violet eyes and lilac "lines" on the outside of his eyes, and on the inside of his ebony, rectangle "ears". His chest and shoulders are a shiny black, like the jewel on his head. His chest is like this until reaching the level of his sternum, in which it becomes the purple and black amphibious-like flesh. His arms end with small hands that have the same tone as his face. His shins and feet are also comprised of the ebony, jewel-like material. He has a long tail that hides above his equivalent of a tailbone. His tail is the same color as most of his body, but the tip being a greyish-brown in color. The tip as a spike in which he uses the drain the nutrients he needs to survive. In simple terms, it's his version of eating. He can drain the nutrients of things that are still living, or just regular food items, like a cheeseburger. His only bit of attire is a magenta cloak/cape that he wears that shields him from fire.

PERSONALITY.
Though he used to be kind and quiet being, being used as a pawn by his creators allowed him to see the true nature of the world, turning him cold. He often stays silent, answering in ways that do away with useless conversation as much as possible. He doesn't care for other life, human or faunus, and claims that he can "See why the Grimm wish for your downfall." However, if the unlikely chance a friendship can be forged with this creature, he can be kind and caring like his old self, before he saw the horrors of man. He doesn't really have many hobbies, but he has taken interest in writing fiction in the past, and reading non-fiction books. He likes to read, draw, write, be alone, planning, and nature. He dislikes humans, faunus, the indoors, robots, aircrafts, and pollution.

HISTORY.
Indigo grew up in the Y3 Laboratory northeast of Vale. This secret lab was being used by a group of scientist that were both human and faunus. They were attempting to genetically create a perfect bio weapon, to sell to the highest bidding force, evil or not. Because normal synthetic soldiers could not generate aura, they were striving to create one that could, by using non-synthetic sources. By using an egg from one of the female faunus, they forced multiple different bits of DNA into it, from great Huntsmen's that they managed to acquire, to their own, they fertilized the egg using Invitro Fertilization. Once they cultivated the specimen, the implanted the egg into a volunteering human woman named Jeriko Ozunu. After waiting for about ten months, she gave birth to a strange larva that they named Indigo, on the account of his purplish color. While useless until he was about six years old, Jeriko treated him as if he was her own baby, giving him lots of love and care, not caring about the money she was being payed to do so. Finally, after resting in a cocoon for a year, when he turned six, his cocoon cracked open, and slowly, he emerged into a smaller version of his current form.

The other scientist immediately took him away from Jeriko, and taught him many things, from espionage, to swordplay, and to even casual meetings. Once they finished training him and filling his brain with knowledge, they sent him out on simple mission to attack Grimm. However, on these missions, he showed restraint, and hesitated to kill anything, trying to talk with or pet the Grimm. The researchers concludes that Jeriko, raising him and living with him using her kind, and mother-like ways, made him soft and "weak". They concludes to kill her, right in front of Indigo, to show that they were in charge, but this only infuriated him. He quickly lashed out, slashing and killing anything in his way, angered for the loss of his mother. He no longer wanted to ally himself with the menace called man. He wandered towards Vale, thinking about what he should do. Should he make them suffer? Destroy their existence? Or... Give them one more chance to prove themselves worthy of surviving?

OUT OF CHARACTER

ALIAS.
Ebon

FACE CLAIM.
Dragon Ball, Genome as Indigo

INSPIRATION.
I grew up watching Dragon Ball, and loved the character Cell. I like the philosophy behind the concept of a being like him. Does a lifeform like him have free will? or Does a lifeform like him have a soul? I talked to myself for hours, pondering those questions.

ANYTHING ELSE.
I hope this kinda of artificial character can be allowed! I know he's a tad bit like Penny, but he is also very different! And I do hope I can roleplay well enough to meet this site's standards!

Referred by: No one shared it with me. I simply searched 'Rwby Roleplay" on Google, and this site impressed me the most.

As the application stands right now, it is - unfortunately - denied. However, please read on while I explain -WHY- that is.

Aura & Semblance: Being that this character is defined as an artificial life form, it is impossible for it to have a Semblance that is so variable. As noted in the Semblance thread, artificial beings can only have a Semblance that enhances a physical attribute - yours first scans the opponent, and then gives Indigo a buff based on whatever is weakest about them. This is not only excessively powerful, as it strengthens you against another persons weakness and makes the latter more defined, but it can also be considered a form of meta-gaming - since you would learn information about a character (their weakness) that others may not.

Appearance: I don’t even know what he’s supposed to be. As an artificial being, I suppose it stands to reason he would really have any appearance. That said, he currently clashes extremely with the appearance of other characters in our RPverse, to the point it’s more likely to paint him as a target to pretty much everyone.

History: The history here, per general staff consensus, doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. This ties into the review of his Aura/Semblance and his Appearance section. The work that went into creating Indigo in this laboratory does not exist in the real world, and likely would not exist on Remnant. They’re splicing genes from Humans and Faunus, Huntsman and Huntresses - all of which would be remarkably expensive and hard to hide. Someone would definitely have gotten wind of this and probbaly shut it down. Then they put the pseudo-egg into a human female - which would actually make the process much more difficult, since her own genetics would influence the egg.

Fast-forward and now he’s being taught everything, ever, by a group of scientists. That doesn’t really make much sense, as a scientist is more likely to have absolutely nothing to do with espionage, swordplay, etc.than anything. The most relevant field, to them, would be casual meetings. Regardless, all this time spent teaching him and turning him into a weapon are obliterated by him becoming a softy. That’s not bad, per say, but it doesn’t make sense. If he showed restraint, he was likely to be killed, as Grimm go out of their way to destroy the things created by mankind. The conclusion to kill his “mother”, in my opinion, is quite excessive and it doesn’t make sense that it instigated him to start killing - because she had made him a softy.

Now he jut wants to destroy Vale or something, I’m not sure how to interpret the end of his app. Either way, it’s pretty excessive. Blaming others for something the scientists did seems like it would have been against Jeriko’s values and - by extension - his own.

I’d recommend sitting down and piecing together something a little less like his source material. The Dragon Ball influence is very apparent, but not necessarily compatible with our universe. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to the Staff - Ala, Ankh, Ryees, or myself - for assistance.

Thanks!

~K

Ah, thank you! Criticism is something I definitely need. I didn't expect this character to be approved with barely editing him. Reading over your reply, I'm able to see all of these plot holes and things can could make him very overpowered. I'm going to try and workshop this character as much as I can, because I really like the concept of any character like this. His aura, and his history, are going to probably be the most difficult part of remodeling him, but I'll take all the time I need.

Do you have any direct suggestions now? I'd love to hear anything that might be able to help me. Anything really. Thank you for reviewing him, as I bet that it's a very tedious job to review characters day and night.

Thank you-
