about us
Legends. Stories, scattered through time. Mankind has grown quite fond of recounting the many exploits of heroes and villains, forgetting so easily that we are remnants - byproducts - of a forgotten past.

Join the ranks of Remnant’s prestigious Academies as you fight to protect the Four Kingdoms from the clutches of the evil Creatures of Grimm. Alternatively, you may work towards bringing the world to its knees by fighting against the last sparks of humanity. Red Like Roses is based on the hit web-series RWBY by Monty Oum and Rooster Teeth Productions.

OCCUPATION.

AURA & SEMBLANCE.
Raven's aura is black but seems to give of white and red sparks at random. Indeed there seems to be an energy about her that is nigh impossible to describe. It's warm and cool at the same time, but people have often described her as magnetic, both literally and metaphorically. She emanates a feeling of kindness and confidence, but she inspires dread when angered. People have a tendency to like her quickly and fear her once they get on her bad side. Her Semblance, which she simply refers to as Magnetism, is, obviously, based around the property of magnetism. She is able to magnetize any metal object so long as the metal it is made from has magnetic properties. It works especially well on iron and steel. She is even able to control other magnets to an extent via polarity, though it is far more difficult even with her experience. She is only able to control four separate objects at once before she is forced to stop and concentrate on controlling the objects, which transfers into her fighting style, only using four Crows at once and no more. If she wants to magnetize something else, she must drop her focus on one Crow, giving her one less weapon to use at one time. In addition, she must touch something with her hand in order to magnetize it, and only with her hand. Any other part of her body will not work for some unknown reason.
WEAPON.
The Crows

A set of four swords controlled via magnetism. Used in conjunction with the fifth sword, which she holds in her hand. When not in use, the four Crows are stored on an electromagnetic ring, dubbed the Crow's Nest, mounted on her back in a sort of down-up-down-up-down pattern for how the blades are arranged. The electromagnet can be turned off or on by direct use of Raven's aura. The swords themselves are pure iron, allowing her magnetism to work to its fullest potential, and a very simplistic design that allows the blades to counter air resistance while remaining beautiful in design. The Crow has no alternate mode and it does not utilize Dust to any extent. While the blades are more designed for stabbing, they can also be used for slashing or, in some cases, bludgeoning. When fighting, Raven tends to draw her fifth sword and hold it with both hands while using her magnetism to guide the other four. (See image below if this description is not enough to describe the appearance of the Crows.)

BONUS: Raven often wears a black half-cloak with a fuzzy trim around the hood. She also wears a large, metal ring on her back that acts as a sort of "sheath" for her Crows.

PERSONAL PROFILE

APPEARANCE.
[x]

Raven is a middle-aged woman who has aged gracefully. She is still as beautiful as she was during her teenage years. She stands at 5'8", weighs 127 pounds without armor, and she has retained the slim, taut body she had earlier in her life despite being a mother through exercise and a healthy lifestyle. She has pale skin, piercing red eyes, and shoulder-length raven black hair. She is often seen wearing a low-cut short, white dress with a black skirt under it. She usually wears black pantyhose or thigh-high stockings, as well as her signature armored combat boots. She sometimes can be seen wearing a black and red hooded half-cloak with a fur trim around the hood. This cloak is specially designed so that her Crow's Nest can attach to it and be worn on her back. She has a jagged scar across her right temple which she keeps hidden with her hair, given to her by a blow to the head in a fight with a Deathstalker.

PERSONALITY.
Raven has always been a kind soul, though not necessarily gentle. She is a natural leader, able to inspire others with words and deed alike. Those who get on her bad side, though, quickly learn to regret it. When angered, Raven is quite terrifying, and those who get put on her shit list quickly learn that she is very dangerous, quite intense, and somewhat sadistic. More than one criminal boss has learned the hard way that messing with Raven or her family is a very painful death sentence.

HISTORY.
From an early age, Raven knew she was destined to be a Huntress. She admired how brave and powerful they were, protecting the people of the world from the creatures of Grimm. Growing up she would often pretend to be a huntress and fight imaginary enemies alongside her older brother. Her parents, naturally, didn't approve of their children choosing such a dangerous career path, but they supported their decision and enabled them to pursue their dreams, starting by enrolling Sevros in Signal Academy at the age of 13, with Raven following two years later.

During her time at Signal, Raven discovered her semblance and designed her Crows around her magnetism. At first she was only able to control one, but as she got older and mastered her semblance, she began learning how to control multiple objects at once using her Magnetism.

After the Headmaster of Beacon took notice of Raven's prodigious talent, he invited her to attend Beacon two years early, which she eagerly accepted. Raven began school with her older brother, and she was made the leader of Team RUST. By the end of their second year at Beacon, they were already considered the best team of their graduating class. During their third year at Beacon, Raven began dating Ulrich Phoenix, whom she had fallen in love with. Her older brother didn't approve at first, but he quickly relented after Ulrich proved himself worthy. Of course, Raven took the initiative to make sure it wouldn't happen again and set her older brother up with the other member of their team, Terra Rosenberg. Of course, a couple months before graduation in their final year at Beacon, the team was attacked in the field by a Tyrant and Terra died to save her friends from the monsterous Grimm, which the remaining members of Team RUST were able to slay thanks to her sacrifice.

Terra's death stayed with Raven for years, driving her to continue fighting and honing her skills as a leader so that no one would ever die under her command again. She married Ulrich after graduation and the two had a child, whom they named Gwendolyn. Seven years later, Ulrich was killed by an Alpha Ursa, leaving Raven as a widowed mother. She raised Gwen with the help of her older brother, and she eventually retired at the age of 33 to help her brother run his Dust store. She recently started teaching at Beacon Academy this year as a Combat Teacher.

INSPIRATION.
Raven was created to be the mother of my main character, Gwendolyn Phoenix. She was inspired by Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven, as well as Pyrrah Nikkos from RWBY, Elsword (Infinity Blade) from Elsword, and Gundam 00 Quan[T] from Gundam 00.

ANYTHING ELSE.
She is a new teacher at Beacon Academy and prefers to be called Professor Blackridge by her students in class, but Raven outside the classroom.

Referred by:Goat boy, as I've said before

SEMI-APPROVED

No complaints from me, save that I think it should be stipulated she needs to be able to perceive the objects she manipulates with her magnetism. Because magnetizing and deflecting bullets is dumb.

Weapons check out. I like the "Crow's Nest," quite the nice little joke rolled up into a fun kit.

It's a go from me!

She can't deflect bullets. Bullets can't be magnetized, as far as I know, and she needs to touch something with her hand in order to magnetize it, meaning she needs to actually make physical contact with it. I don't think that would work on an object that small flying at her at supersonic speeds. :3
