A Random Update
Feb. 17, 2016
Hey RLR! Kenji here with a quick little update to go over some changes made to the site in the last couple days - some noticeable, some not so much!
The first and obvious change is the new skin, created by Spenny of the resource site Shine. We felt like, with everything picking up on RLR as it has in recent months, that it was time to change the "face" of the site to better reflect our overall theme, Red Like Roses aims to be a compelling multi-genre story, consisting of themes such as love and loss, as well as war and peace. That said, the old skin just didn't offer what we were reaching for. With the new skin, CASPIAN, we were able to slightly tweak the original blue theme to match the nature of Red Like Roses (and how about that banner, huh?).
And on that same note of overall theme, the question of whether or not we are still within RLR's Chapter 1 (as posted in the plot thread) has come up a few times as well. The answer to that question is simple - yes. With everything going on, old and new joining the site, as well as more unique characters entering RLR's story, it's important that we find a good solid place to start moving the plot forward. Don't worry, though - it's happening sooner than you might expect.
Another obvious change is the addition of Mistral and Vacuo! That's right, after being asked on a number of occasions if the other Academies are or would become available, it's finally happened! This was put into motion by both having general knowledge of all the Kingdoms now, as well as the prospect of learning much more about them in Volume 4. Keep in mind that, being non-canon, Red Like Roses will have (and will keep) the names given to the locations. No need to conform to canon if we don't follow its plotline, right?!
The final change, which isn't quite noticeable, is the re-organizing of the Census Office. Here, characters are separated into more specific groups that appear much cleaner than it did in recent incarnations of the site. Now, instead of getting lost like some of us have, it's easy to go "Oh, what year and academy are you in?" and boom~! You found it in no time! This system has been tested on a separate site that was used to test the current forum construction of ease-of-use, so we're sure you'll enjoy it as much as we have so far!
Lastly, while not really a change, will be the addition of more detailed lore. While we love answering the questions everyone has about the steps in character creation, there's a part of us that feels like many of the questions should easily be answered within the rules and the Handbook. That said, the lore will be updated to include less Wiki citations and more information easy for you - and everyone else - to read and understand. The nature of Aura and Semblance, for example, will be effected by this.
Well that's it for this random update! If anyone has any questions or concerns, feel free to drop a post in here, PM any member of the Staff or try to get our attention via the cbox! :D
See ya next time, RLR~
